If You Really Need An Architect To Make The Code Good, Sack The Rest Of The Team
Hiring a "rock star" architect because you don't trust your developers to write well-designed, clean code is like hiring a "rock star" comedy writer because you don't think the rest of the writing team are funny.
In both cases, if that's actually true and your architect/writer really is the only one you can trust to make it good, then sack the team and make them write the damn thing themselves, 'cause the team's not adding any value.
Better still, hire developers who can write well-designed, clean code in the first place.
